Mars is a unique large-scale manufacturing operation, which is why we don’t just take ready-made, off-the-shelf solutions from third parties to install. Instead as part of our Engineering team you’ll take part in designing solutions specific to us. Together with our Operations teams, your work will ensure our manufacturing facilities run smoothly and efficiently around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Your creative efforts will play an integral role in giving Mars a competitive edge, and delivering our great quality products to our customers and consumers.

To apply for the Engineering disciple you will need to have a relevant technical degree. We accept any Engineering degrees and have particular interest in areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Design etc.

Finance

In Mars Finance you’ll experience first-hand how our operations integrate and intersect locally and globally, working across a broad spectrum of financial services. From protecting assets with financial control measures, to adding analytic expertise and financial reporting that can guide our strategies. Here you’ll be managing complexity, processing it, and acting on it. Those that work here are highly skilled and technically outstanding. It’s a place for great minds, quick thinking and sharp, accurate financial focus.

For that reason, ‘HR’ is known as People & Organisation here at Mars. As one of the world’s largest privately-owned businesses, we experience unusual levels of freedom when it comes to how we operate in our roles. I was given real responsibility and autonomy from day one and I feel like I have a direct impact on our overall results and that my opinion is always valued.

The first week I started working as a grad, I was told by everyone that I can be myself completely working here. There is no judgement of anyone’s unique personalities. It has made me feel free, safe, and trusted working at Mars. Everyone’s best interest is to help other associates’ development to excel.
Erica2016 Research & Development Graduate, Mars Food Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours), Curtain University

Working at Mars is special. As an associate of one of Australia’s leading consumer brands, I am part of something enormous, though because Mars is a family-owned business I still feel that we are an intimate and tight-knit community and I know that my input and opinion count.
Catherine2016 Research & Development Graduate, Mars Food Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Chemistry (Honours), University of New South Wales

Working in Commercial, I have had many opportunities to travel with my role. One of my most exciting experiences was being able to travel to India to visit suppliers, see our Mars India plant and participate in a regional Commercial Petcare conference.

As a family owned business the culture internally is very engaging and fun. Initially, it was hard to believe how passionate the associates were about the business. This hard working culture provides the mould to be able to create an efficient work-life balance that protrudes high quality results and very high engagement.

We live The Five Principles in everything we do. They make sense. Mutuality and Freedom is what really sets us apart. We have the opportunity to make decisions that we truly believe in, not just what makes the most money.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does The Mars Leadership Experience commence?

Our Graduate Program commences each year in January and participation is for three years.

What will happen when the Mars Leadership Experience is complete?

If successful you’ll join Mars Australia as a permanent Associate which means you’ll continue on with us following the three-year Graduate program. You’ll transition into other roles within the business, in line with your career aspirations and development needs.

If I am successful and complete my studies mid-year, am I able to start with the business earlier than January?

Given we place you in real roles, we’d firstly need to make sure that the role is available earlier. If this is the case, we can start available candidates earlier than January. In the event that we agree on early commencement, you should note that the Mars Leadership Experience will not commence until January and participation in the program would still be three years from then.

If I am unsuccessful in my application for The Mars Leadership Experience at this time, can I apply for the program again?

Of course you can! Just make sure you still meet the key eligibility criteria.

If I am not offered a Graduate position, can I apply for other roles with Mars Australia?

Absolutely, we have lots of other exciting roles available across Mars Australia. You can check out our current opportunities and join our talent community here http://www.mars.com/global/careers

I have majors in more than one area offered The Mars Leadership Experience, can I apply to more than one Business Function?

When applying to join The Mars Leadership Experience, you’ll be asked to include your preferences for Business Function and you can choose more than one. Just make sure you meet the eligibility criteria, particularly for technical roles such as Engineering.

Where are the positions located for The Mars Leadership Experience?

The majority of our positions are located at our head offices in Wodonga, Ballarat and Wyong. Sales vacancies are available at our multi-sales offices in Melbourne and Sydney, or in the field throughout Australia.

If I am successful and required to relocate to join Mars Australia, will there be support provided?

Absolutely! In order to assist you with any relocation required for your role, we offer extensive support including temporary accommodation and financial assistance.

How do I provide my academic transcript?

Please make sure you upload your transcript as part of your application process. You’ll also be asked to bring a certified copy of your transcript to the Assessment stage.
